The Turk Recap

Posted by admin on January 23rd, 2008

Episode 3, The Turk, of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles aired last Monday. The show seems to be on a decline in viewership, this time fetching #3 for the timslot (one rank lower than last week) and #4 for the night (same as last week). There were over 8.6 million people who watched it, so even though it’s less than last week, the show is still going strong.Cromartie

Everything below this may contain episode spoilers. If you have not seen the episode yet, you can download it here.

In this episode, Sarah tries to track down the future creators of Skynet, which leads her to Andy Goode, a cell phone sales man, who works on a computer named “The Turk” in his spare time. Sarah does not want to kill Andy, though Cameron thinks he should die; instead, Sarah sets fire to his house in an attempt to destroy The Turk. In the meantime, John and Cameron visit their new school. For reasons I’m unsure of, a girl is pressed to commit suicide; John wants to save her, but Cameron insists he does not. While all this happens, Cromartie is rebuilding himself with a new formula for synthetic skin, making him more humanoid.

After watching the episode, I was confused on a few things. What was it in the door that the girl at the school found so devastating that she killed herself? Is it relevant to the plot at all? In previous episodes, how did Cromartie’s head travel through time - or, for that matter, how did Cameron? Perhaps this is obvious, but why did Cromartie take the doctor’s eyes? It appeared to me that his terminator eyes could do the job based on the screencap at the end.

That’s the brief summary. For a more in-depth review of episode 3, read it here. Download the episode here if you missed it. And, as always, feel free to leave a comment.

American Idol

Posted by admin on January 23rd, 2008

Once again, American Idol has returned as the nation’s most popular TV series, though there are about 4 million viewers less this year than last. When the 1st episode of the show aired a few weeks ago, it had over 33 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show american idol is one of the most popular of all time because it gives the little guy a shot at true success. While there is only one American Idol winner each year, oftentimes the top three can also get recording contracts, while still providing those who don’t make it to the top with a memorable experience.

To give you an example of just how bad some of the auditions are this season, see the video below:

While it’s always fun to see some of the worst singers in America, I think we’ve had enough of that in the past couple weeks. I’m personally looking forward to hearing some real music very soon. There is some real talent out there in America, and it’s ready to get discovered. The next episode from American Idol will air February 5th and will feature auditions from Atlanta, Georgia. American Idol has a very loyal following; for those of you who watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, do you watch American Idol as well?

This is all the episode information I’ve been able to find for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Episode 3, The Turk. If anyone has any more information or spoilers, feel free to leave a comment. ;)

I was unable to find a preview of “The Turk” - the third episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles - on YouTube, which I found surprising. If anyone does have a link to a working video of the episode preview, feel free to share.

Edit: I found an episode. I’m not sure how long it will stay live because it’s not by Fox, but here it is:

Terminator Premiere Results

Posted by admin on January 17th, 2008

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, premiered last Sunday with over 18 million viewers. Fox came out with Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles in #1 for it’s timeslot and #2 for the evening. There are a few things that I think have contributed to it’s initial success. Firstly, there is the current writer’s strike; because of the strike, there have been few non-reality TV shows to hit the air; this has played out well with fox to help boost potential viewership. Secondly, the premiere took place on a Sunday, which is a little unusual. I think both of these things played a roll in bringing Teriminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles to the top.

Last monday, after Sunday’s premiere, the second episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles aired. While this episode, Gnothi Seauton, didn’t do as well as the Pilot, it still came in #2 for the timeslot and #4 for the night with over 10 million viewers.

While the critical reception of this show has been a bit muddled with mixed reviews, TV watchers are proving the show built around the Terminator franchise is what they want to see.

The next Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles episode is called “The Turk” and will air on Monday at 8/9 Central.
